Functionality is the basis for my furniture. However, I don’t let practicality prevent me from having fun with the design elements in my work. Drawing inspiration from Scandinavian, Asian, Shaker and contemporary American furniture, I like to keep things simple. Simple lines, subtle curves and bomb-proof joinery provide the foundation for my work. Working in conjunction with my clients to create unique pieces allows unusual and unexpected elements to enter into the designs.

I like to use hardwood species that are indigenous to North America, both for environmental reasons and personal taste. While not perfect, the U.S. and Canada have enforcable logging laws and some sustainable practices for harvesting timber. Also, it is my gut feeling that lumber is more comfortable when it stays close to home. Native woods such as walnut, oak and cherry have a humble nature that agrees with my simple, contemporary designs.
